Greater Tulsa Officials Association
2017 Football Registration

The 2017 GTOA football officials registration is now open! (NOTE: basketball registration will open at a later date).

Our registration is fully electronic, and you will need a valid e-mail and a current credit/debit card to complete your payment.

As part of the registration process, you will be able to submit your clinic fee for this year along with your association fee.

Late fees will be assessed after June 9th, so be sure to take care of your officiating business before the deadline approaches (NOTE: there is NO late fee for new officials who are joining our association for the first time).

You must also register with the OSSAA, and that registration process will open on June 1st, and late fees will be assessed on July 1st.

Crew Chiefs: You have until June 15th to submit your crew. The Crew Submission form is located on the registration page. You MUST have at least four (4) officials on the crew to be considered by the Assignment Committee.

GTOA MEETINGS: Our meetings will begin on Monday, July 10th. This year's President and VP Letters will be available soon, and meeting details will be published as soon as we have our meeting schedule confirmed.

2017 GTOA HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL OFFICIALS CLINIC

The dates for this year's clinic have been set for May 19th and 20th at the Broken Arrow Varsity Club. There will be at least two (2) scrimmage sites, and plenty of classroom and film review breakdown sessions.

The Clinic Committee is working to complete the agenda, and finalize preparations. Check back soon for updates, and look for further information that will be distributed through Arbiter.

It's time to get ready for another great year of Oklahoma high school football!!

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

As we close out the 2016 high school football season, there will be updates and information that needs to be provided to all of our officials for next year.

GTOA President, Ethan Rolen, will author this feature and give insight to officials and our association. During the regular season, and OSSAA Playoff Series, these updates will be provided as information becomes available.

Furthermore, Ethan will provide off-season updates when the season ends, and will continue as we begin preparations each spring and summer.

Officiating is not for everyone. It takes a special type of person to be an official. Here are the four pillars of officiating:

1. Live with Integrity
            A. Tell the truth
            B. Keep your word
            C. Practice what you say
            D. Don't make things up
2. Serve with enthusiasm
            A. Be polite
            B. Say Thank you
            C. Be on time
            D. Be prepared
3. Give with generosity
            A. Give your time
            B. Give your effort
            C. Give your talent
            D. Give your energy
4. Succeed with humility
            A. Pride is like bubblegum, chew it but don't swallow it.

“Integrity is making sure the things you say and the things you do are in alignment."

GTOA.....we're in the game!

Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication this season -
Ethan

Congratulations to all GTOA crews assigned to the 2016 OSSAA Football Playoff Series!

The GTOA had another stellar year by being awarded two Semi-Final match-ups and two State Championships!
If you have been working with a new official and are planning to get credit so that additional playoff points can be added to your rating, be sure to fully complete the required paperwork for the OSSAA!

You, as a mentor, and your new official (1st or 2nd year) must meet the requirements for the Mentorship Program and have all paperwork submitted the OSSAA no later than October 15th of each year.

At a minimum, the new official that you are mentoring must have attended a State Rules Meeting, three (3) GTOA Meetings, and a pre-season scrimmage that you were assigned. Furthermore, you must attend at least one (1) game that the new official who your are mentoring has been assigned and he/she must attend one (1) game that you have been assigned (preferably at the Varsity level). You BOTH must sign the Mentorship Form and submit it to the OSSAA by the deadline date in October.

This is an outstanding opportunity to recruit and retain new officials for the GTOA and for you to get credit for and be involved with training as well as helping our association grow.

The Mentorship Program is an annual event with the OSSAA and we encourage you to participate every year!!
OSSAA ON-LINE TESTING - THROUGH ARBITER SPORTS ANNUAL GTOA MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
The OSSAA is requiring ALL Oklahoma football officials to register through Arbiter Sports. This registration program will allow for centralized tracking of official's activities and further allow for a single-point-of-contact for information distribution regarding high school officiating with any sport. You must register with the Arbiter BEFORE any testing will be available to you. (Follow the link below for registration and testing)

OSSAA Testing Site (ArbiterSports.com)

You must attend at least four (4) of eight (8) meetings and have your dues paid to be a member in good standing ($45.00 by June 5th each year or $60.00 after June 5th). If you cannot make 4 meetings, there is an exemption process, but you MUST submit an exemption request letter to the Executive Committee for consideration (it must be a valid reason - work, military, medical, etc.).

You must also register with the OSSAA on-line through ArbiterSports and complete the NFHS Part I test. If you do not, you will not be an eligible official for the state of Oklahoma and the GTOA cannot assign you games.

FILM REVIEW WITH HUDL: Hudl Usage

Below is a list of members or former members who are currently officiating at the next level:

Below is some important information regarding Hudl:

* Coaches cannot share film with individual officials
* You must be a member of the GTOA to get film shared
* You are NEVER allowed to share film with another team or coach
* All films will be shared during the season (when/if received)
* When a film is reviewed with markups, it will only be shared with that crew
* Any film that may be sent in that requires action, will only be shared with the Referee
* iDevice and Android apps are available for free

We hope that each official takes the time to review film from this past season! Whether it be film of your crew or another crew, you can learn from what will be available,

Film review is the best teaching tool that can currently be provided. Don't pass up this opportunity!!
